Tonight I called the cops after I was accosted by a man outside of my building, He was high on meth,had been using and/or buying meth with a couple of guys that live in my building, When the cops arrived, they told me and my BF that they had already been called to deal with these neighbors once tonight, including the guy who grabbed me. The police told us that there were four or more men in the apartment, who all were without a doubt high on something, and appeared to have been binging on meth or crack for a few days. In fact, the cops used the word “crackheads” to describe them.

However, they said without a warrant, they couldn’t enter the apartment, and that they couldnt arrest them just for appearing to be high.

Drugs are one thing– Drug addicts gathering in my building and wandering the halls at 4 am on weekend-long meth binges is quite another.

What can I do next to get these people the hell out of my building? I’m scared as hell- for all I know they’ve set up shop with their own meth lab up there.

Any suggestions???????

Moving- not an option. I’ve got another year of lease left, and in New York, claiming your neighbors are on drugs is not going to hold up in court as a valid reason to break your lease.
